Best experience for a British made suspension bridge
like
Awesome place to take photos. Best if you climb the stares of the bridge to the top most rail going section and the view of hill ranges frome there is an awesome one. Must enter into the cave nearby the bridge. Trains via this route is less in number and so its safe there to take photos sitting on railway lines.
This is the railway bridge which is built parallel to the Punalur Suspension Bridge. It is built across the Kallada River. The view of the suspension bridge from this railway bridge is very good. Earlier time only Meter Gauge trains used to run through this bridge, but now the railway tracks were broadened and there is daily trains running through this bridge.
The old railway bridge is a place to bring memories of the past.
Serene place. Nice place for morning drive/ride.
Wonderful Architecture. One of the ancient railway line in kerala. And also border for two States.
Punalur, lying along the border of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the district of Kollam, derives its name from two words one Tamil and one Malayalam. Tamil word 'punal' means water and Malayalam word 'ooru' means place together making Punalur the place of water. Indeed Kallada flows right through the heart of the city with the famous suspension bridge hanging over it, stretching for 400 metres across its width. Panalur is known as "Pepper Village of Kerala" and is also houses a major Paper Mill established in 1850's.
