We wanted to try something different and this place didnt disappoint us. They are probably the only place serving the Ethiopian food in pune and they are serving it with keeping the Ethiopian culture alive. The ambience is just lovely, they have pics and artifacts of the place and the color combination of the walls is also well done. We started off with Mit Mita Soda, basically an lemonade with chilli powder, a different but a good drink. Adengere Shorba soup was good. Sambosa Lentil was samosa and it was really good. Injera is the bread which is made out of fermented raji and it was good. We had it with Yedinich Alicha and Misir Wat and both curries were good. They also serve thali which a group can share within a same thali. The pricing is also very moderate and the staff is very friendly. Overall a great place to try out some lovely different food.

One of the best Ethiopian restaurant, beautiful interiors, tasty & authentic food. Both the supervisor and the manager were very friendly accommodative. We took couple of combo dishes, one was Injera with egg based gravies and the other was Injera with vegetarian based gravies.

Abyssinian - An Ethiopian cuisine restaurant. The first and only Ethiopian cuisine serving restaurant in India so far. This restaurant has a perfect mix of fine Ethiopian dining coupled with good Indian hospitality. Sam, the manager spent some good time and gave quite a lot of information, not just about Ethiopian cuisine but also about others. Chandan and Indira are very adept at taking good care of the guests. Must tell you that, the food was served with a lot of love. Menu which I tried: started with home made rice wine, one of the most authentic I've ever tried. Injera, Inguday Tibs, Yedinich alicha,Misir Wot, Sweet Sambosa and Balck coffee! A vegetable rich loaded menu. However, like it's said in the menu. The Ethiopian cuisine is not just about the style of food, but more about how it is eaten. I just did 'Gursha' with my friends. When are you doing it?

It was quite an experience. They made an effort to keep it as authentic as possible and they succeeded! The entire experience was just exploring different flavors and it was quite interesting to see how it is so close to Indian food but so different! Everything was flavorful and scrumptious. This would be perfect to bring parents as well who usually prefer Indian food - it's the same thing with a twist! And just to make it even better, they made an exception for us when we asked for a beetle leaf whiskey sour that's served at Savya Rasa. It was quite yummy. Definitely visiting again.

We tried Abyssinian for Ethiopian food for the first time in our lives and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Their large plate of food to share allows you to sample their key dishes is great for those new to Ethiopian cuisine. The whole experience with washing of hands before and after the meal, and the coffee ceremony at the end make it an Ethiopian experience instead of just a meal. Overall the food was delicious, with every dish being so different from our regular food. The staff was friendly with great service.
