I got to know these guys through common friends and started occasionally visiting the office to just hang out. Being an amateur musician helped bond with the founders, who themselves do dabble in music. One thing led to another and we discussed investing my money in a company Thought Plate would incubate, and out of sheer enthusiasm more than anything else I agreed. The discussion was that my money would be used to start this company, and once suitably profitable, the money would be returned to me. To make a long story short I never saw the money again. The new company was never started, and under the guise of "sales proposals" and "identity design", the money was simply used up internally at thought-plate. When I went to ask for my money back, I was gleefully informed it had been spent internally (read as, thought-plate salaries) and then these guys actually had the gall to ask me for more so the "next phase" could start. I actually was marveling at the ability of these guys to rob you with a fountain pen. Neither did the company I was lending them the money for get started nor was the money returned. The next time someone trusts these folks and considers investing in their business, this review might well come in handy.
