When u buy ticket yourself- backpacker, or not through travel agency paying extra, u better know Spanish or have what u need being translated. When u go to the puno bus station ( only one) about S/5 taxi ride. Go early. U need to go to another counter to pay S/ 1.5 per luggage. Get the luggage sticker sticks on your bus ticket. When u get on bus, u may bump into "tour", a guide taking care of those duckies... they are impolite. The guide needa show off how useful he is. Those ppl will marked the seats together even you have your own seat number when you buy your ticket. If your seat was being changed when u get on bus by the person who checked your ticket and using a pen to mark your seat on the paper for their ref., u need to flight for your own seat because you are on your own! Don't let them put u at the very back seat next to the toilet. Good luck and go through the Bolivia immigration smoothly!

Awful company. Our bus from La Paz to Puno had a breakdown halfway, the engine was still working but all the lights were off, including the headlights of the bus. The driver and the stuff were trying to fix it for 45' and after they realized they couldn't do anything about it THEY STARTED DRIVING WITH NO HEADLIGHTS! It was pitch dark outside and the codriver was using HIS SMARTPHONE FLASHLIGHT to show the way!!! It is unbelievable that we didn't have an accident. Some of the passengers gave their headlamps to help out but no matter how many times we asked the driver to stop the bus and call for another bus to come and pick us up, he always shouted at us. He decided that it was fine to drive a huge bus in the middle of the night with no lights and 30 lives in it for more than 2 hours. Absolutely irresponsible and stupid.

WORST BUS COMPANY IN PERU. Had my backpack with my passport, wallet, camera and laptop inside stolen whilst sleeping on the overnight bus from Arequipa to Puno. On arrival the Tour Peru staff offered zero support, told me there are no cameras onboard and sent me on my way. Despite having a manifest and passport details for ever passenger onboard. Thank you Tour Peru for ruining my travels and offering no support in return.

Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS "BUS COMPANY"!! We read all the bad reviews but thought we will give it a try. We booked the tour from Puno to La Paz. First of all there was a delay of 30 minutes, which was not too bad. Literally after 20 minutes the bus stopped without any reason and nobody talked to us. So we got off the bus. It turned out that something broke at the gearshift lever! First they told us a spare part from Puno is coming within 1 hour. After 2 hours still NOTHING happened! The bottom line is, that we drove with a collectivo to the border near Copacabana. Then all the tourists got out with big baggages and had to walk to the migration and immigration to the Bolivian side. It was very crowdy. After crossing the border, we had to take a second collectivo to get to Copacabana! In Copacabana we got in a old, dirty bus which drove us finally to La Paz. Instead of 3 pm we arrived at 6 pm in La Paz. Absolutely the WORST BUS EXPERIENCE IN PERU!

I too read the bad comments online and thought maybe I should've gone with another company. However I decided to give it a go. Bus was from Puno to La Paz direct. Everything went smoothly. It seemed like they must've changed management or bought new buses. It was clean, the bus didn't overtake other vehicles (which had happened every time I took Cruz del sur), no food as expected... Another normal bus. It was funny that a number of people got on and said "it's not that bad!" it truly isn't that bad.

This bus company is terrible: DO NOT TAKE TOUR PERU. They completely scammed us and we ended up getting to our destination 5 hours after the scheduled time. Additionally, we were taken off a large, comfortable Tour Peru bus on an unscheduled stop and transferred onto a very poor quality, 30-year old local city bus. (See attached picture for the bus we were put onto.) This bus was extremely rickety and unsafe! PLEASE do not take Tour Peru!!!

I booked a direct trip from Puno to La Paz, starting at 6:45 AM but only leaving 30 minutes later. We asked a lady if she knew the reason and she said it was normal because the bus did not have enough people. after a few minutes they said we had to go with another company. The result was that instead of going directly to the destination we made a stopover of 1 hour, we had to change buses and go with another company and another delayed, in the end we arrived 2 hours and 30 minutes after the scheduled time, both buses were weak.

The bus was freezing in the morning and excessively hot in the afternoon. The bus was dirty and unconfortable, and the toilet was disgusting. There was a huge delay and only one stop on the way, when the trip was 7 hours long. Terrible experience.
