Spot on, a brilliant free day out with the kids. Just don't go with your kid and his metal detector because the not so friendly friends of the park will be very aggressive and think they can tell you what to do with zero authority to do so. There was no need for permission to use my child's detector as we had no intention of taking away any potential finds, (which is what the law on detecting states). There was also no additional concern with health and safety as the park is riddled with holes from rabbits, mole holes and God know what else - craters all over the place. So no digging is needed - the holes are already there. LoL Plus, there is a sand pit in the playground which is great but I'm pretty sure you don't need to ask permission to dig in that - which is 2 feet away from the section of ground my child was going over with his Childs metal detector? Maybe the person in question needs to get the relevant authorities to deal with these issues instead of taking the law into their own and and being rude and abruptly speaking to the public about matters they have no authority in. Because the rudeness of the person in question is unacceptable and isn't in line with the beauty and brilliance of the park. But the place is in Itself is fantastic.
