Good for kids
Incredible 100 ft waterfall. Take trail to the right for an immediate view and the best view of the falls. It's amazing bang for the buck, a couple hundred yards. Sadly the campground appears to have been closed in 2017 due to a root disease in the trees. The trails are still open year round. Just park by the locked gate at the highway. Merry Christmas 12/24/2020. (As usual, way more impressive in person)

There were some down trees that require crouching under. Other than that it's a great, easy-walking trail. Less stable folks will find the use of trekking poles very helpful while heading down to the river as the steps could get slick and it's relatively steep.
Such a nice, easy hike. Only a couple of stair areas with everything else just enjoyable. Frankly we liked the canyon trail more than the falls view loop. The river views along the canyon definitely won out over the two views of the falls on the loop.
So this is a funny little abandoned campground on the side of the road. An outbreak of wood rot among the trees caused the park to be closed so trees could be brought down safely (instead of falling over on ppl). Pull in, park, walk past the gate, stroll left along the paved road & follow it right as it goes through the still-standing trees. You'll see a trailhead to the left lf an info board, which goes down by the river. Another trailhead to the right of the sign, goes to two lookouts over the falls. The lookout is ok, but the real reward comes from the riverside trail. It's steep going down, & there are some hills along the way, but it's a beautiful trail that makes you feel enveloped by the forest.
Great trail, awesome views. Definitely worth hiking down to the water. Great for a swim!
