It was a good challenging hike. I went when the gates were closed so I had to hike the whole way and it was worth it. It had an amazing view and was a good challenge. In the winter I needed spikes since it was decently icy

Dear gawd... This trail is nearly all vertical. I believe up to 28% grade at it's steepest. It's not a long hike, but for a person that's not in the best shape after losing 50lbs from dieting alone, I highly suggest getting a good breakfast into you and bringing a lot of liquid to get up there. Beautiful area and vistas, but damn, pace yourself. Haha
Steep incline, 10%-20% grade. Well maintained trail. Parking area is medium with overflow alongside the road.
Just went yesterday. Not a brisk hike for those of us who don’t workout, A CHALLENGE BUT SO WORTH IT. No snow, road to peak is closed, parking at the bottom for 10-15 cars maybe. Signs call it ‘cougar county’ so I recommend bringing some kind of small means of defense - knife, pepper spray, 9m, ya know.
The vertical ascent on this trail is tough. It’s just over two miles of hiking with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. Strenuous to say the least. Coming down the grade is almost as challenging. That being said, the peaceful surroundings during the hike are exceptional. The views at the top, well worth the pain. :) Be sure to check out the South View Point as well. The hike from the north to the south is an easy half-mile and the view is spectacular. If you’re not up for the hike, there is a 4-Mile Drive that takes you up to both lookouts.
Mt Walker is always a good hike. On a clear day you're rewarded with great views of the Olympics, and a few volcanos- after 2 miles and a 2000 foot climb.
The trailhead is easy to get to on a smooth dirt road. I missed it the first time but quickly found it in the return. Parking for six or ten cars.
Table for the benches was too long but the hike was good enough to make up for it
