The place was easy to locate and the navigation was accurate. (Walking distance from the Howrah railway station) First up, there is no dedicated parking spot available, so it’s recommended to use the parking spaces opposite the Railway station. The entry fee is low and the place is well maintained overall. The museum is famous for its collection of old locomotive carriages and artifacts of Eastern railway services from the same time period. The toy train and scale models of locomotives are another attraction. This place also doubles up as a picnic spot as there is a lot of open space that’s well-maintained. Overall, this place is a must visit if you come to Kolkata.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the Google Guides because it is through their priceless reviews that I came to know about this place. Among the six Rail Museums of the country, this one is located at a short distance away from the Howrah Station new complex and is a place where one can have a good time with friends and family alike besides getting to know a few things about one of the largest railways in the world.

It is a very good place to spend some time through the history and evolution of Indian Railways... Good place for photography also. Going to take 3 hours if enjoyed thoroughly. Ticket (with photography as no body is going to stop you from taking pictures with phone or action camera) is pretty cheap. There is also a functioning toy train from the replica 19th century Howrah station which is quite interesting. You can also see some locos from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Overall a nice, cozy and clean place.

This Rail Museum is an exemplary tribute to the Indian Railways. It features a vast collection of heritage & antique railway coaches, engines, vintage machineries and a lot more. It's spread across a huge area of lush green garden, which also serves as a perfect spot to spend some quality time amidst nature. This museum houses multitudinous galleries, each containing vital information about the history of the Indian Railways, with a special emphasis given to the Howrah Station & Eastern Railways in particular. The "Hall Of Fame" & the "Hall Of Heritage" are the two must-visit halls, which shouldn't be missed while touring this museum. During my visit to this museum post Covid-19 lockdown, I was extremely pleased with it's maintenance standards. The entrance fee is 30 (2021). Highly recommended to visit.
