Sir Aurthor Cotton Museum, To a great engineer during the british rule in India who has contributed extensively towards the infrastructure of Rajahmundry by building Dams and Bridges and making the land fertile and till today it flourishes all because of his contributions. The people thereafter are in debt and have built this museum portraying all of his works and a great journey of him into what went in building promising structures in Rajamahendravaram. Dowaleshwaram Barrage is one of the major milestones built by him connecting East and West Godavari over Godavari River during that time. There are other discoveries and inventions made by him as an engineer in display at the museum. Though it's small it speaks very much with a miniature model of a dam gate. There is a scale model of the Dowaleshwaram Barrage. Also a map with contours and river streams made in cement showing of the whole Godavari Basin.
(Visited in 2005, 2016) - It's a museum dedicated to the extraordinary story of how Dowlaiswaram Barrage was built. Sir Arthur Cotton faced great obstacles and opposition, but finally took up this brilliant project. Felt many emotions watching the tools, artefacts, displays belonging to those testing times. The park is good but really disappointed with the maintenance. It should have been top class....
Informative but low maintenance and beware of monkeys..... Will guarantee peace of mind...on the way to Dawaleswaram we can see Vijjeswaram power plant may be permission needed to go inside and 4 parts of cotton bridge and don't forget to see main lock of the project... Will add that pic also
Museum has well-preserved photos, prototypes, illustrations, highlights of construction of anicuts on river Godavari in the early 1850s. Information here depicting his achievements and chronology of life events will help visitors understand why Sir Arthur Cotton, the chief designer, and architect of this project is revered in this region of Coastal Andhra. These Irrigation projects are the key reason behind the prosperity of this region. Visitors experience could be further enhanced by providing more lighting and renovating the interiors. Cleanliness is not up to the mark. Overall, this place is a must visit when you are in Rajahmundry.
This is a very good place for enjoyment. Every one should visit this place. This place says more and everything about how did the sir cotton have constructed the barrage and the way he have helped the people of godavari delta region from severe drought and during severe floods. This is a nice place
