Extended-Life Appliance Repair

I called Nathan on a Sunday and we set an appointment for Monday. I had been using another appliance repair service to fix repeated dysfunctions on my 10 year old Samsung dryer. Nathan was on time, respectful, and figured out that the real problem was a malfunction that was allowing lint to collect essentially everywhere inside the dryer and only minimal collection in the lint screen. The other repairman was coming every 6 months to replace the heating element or the sensor, without ever figuring out (or ignoring) the problem that was causing me to spend more than 500/year in repairs for the past 2 years. Nathan arrived a bit earlier than expected (just fine with me) and then he took the entire dryer apart to clean out the lint, pointed out a problem with the outside vent and told me how to fix it. He spent more than 3 hours doing this, was very respectful and professional, and charged me only a little more than the other guy who spent 20 minutes replacing a broken part. Now that I'm aware of the problem (which may be the fault of our multiple pet household and/or the engineering of the dryer, or both), I can take steps to prevent the buildup or at least I know who to call who understands how to diagnose and fix problems and not just replace parts like a bandaid. I'll be calling him for all my appliance repair needs from now on. Couldn't have imagined better service or a nicer individual to work with.
