The taste of the food dropped significantly in the last year or so. I don't know what happened. This is the first time since Covid-19 I ordered from here. In the past, the food was so tasty and it consistently exceeded my expectations. But this time it is just so so. Maybe they hired a different chef?

The best part I like is they never overcook, the sauce could keep its fresh scent and meet/fish keep most of their original texture as well. Highly recommend their cumin rib and fish (w. noodle of course).
This is a review for delivery order. I previously visited Dong Ting Chun in LA. That one was superb. This one at Redmond was kind of mediocre . Not too good or bad. I ordered mapo tofu and stir fired bacon with dried radish. The tofu was not as numbing as I expected it would be. On the other hand, the bacon was not dry or excessively oily. That was a bonus. I hope I can try other signature Hunan dishes at the restaurant once we can dine in.
Update: After the last disappointment and a few successful deliveries, I have to say, this place has the most authentic Chinese/Xiang cuisine in the area. I am extremely particular about food; but this place leaves me with no complaints. Keep up the awesome taste!!! I had waited for their order for three hours and ended up getting nothing. A total disaster. Avoid.
Very bad experience! We ordered the food through the online platform. It’s supposed to be delivered on 6Pm. But on 7:00Pm, the restaurant said we need to wait another 30 mins. Super bad experience!
I ordered their new dish flavor sheep scorpion . This is definitely NOT sheep scorpion.
The menu consists of very traditional Chinese dishes and very few "Americanized" dishes so be prepared for that going in. In addition, prices are between 15 and 30 per entree so a bit on the expensive side for lunch. At 12:30 on a Friday the place was nearly empty. Our party (8) was seated immediately. I rate 2 stars because of several reasons. The restaurant was dirty. The water was warm and had an oily sheen and a strong chemical flavor. Service was virtually non-existent and it took forever to get our food. A lunch should not take 90 minutes. Food itself was pretty good. I ordered a fried pork and pepper dish and while flavorful it was extremely salty and oily - to a level I have never experienced. It was the saltiest thing I have ever eaten and I love salty foods. Brace yourself! The meat and vegetable flavors were good and tasted very fresh. It was served piping hot which I appreciate.
As a Hunanese, I can say Dong Ting Chun is the best Hunan restaurant in Redmond, Bellevue and Kirkland.
