We spent the afternoon walking around the zoo and were looking for a little bite (but didn’t want the all you can eat lunch at the zoo), so we hopped over to Mariel. Great covered outdoor soda. Fresh food. Ordered the tortillas and cheese, but there were some wonderful looking dishes being delivered to others. In the end we stuck to our order and it was delicious. They even offered a sample of rice pudding to all the customers at the time. There is a flagged there to help you park and get back on the at times very busy road.
Good local food but not alot of flavor. Waitress was attentive and friendly.

Excellent restaurant located in the cute little town of La Garita. They serve comida típica, including the best arroz con pollo we've had so far in Costa Rica as well as the freshest, sweetest batido de sandía. We also got complimentary arroz con leche. It's right across from Zoo Ave so quite convenient if you get there around lunchtime. Great food, soda prices.

The tortilla aliñada- corn tortilla with cheese- was good and the "tamal" was heated on a microwave oven which made it hard and soggy. When the owner was advised about that she just ignored the comment like saying... It was sold to you now pay for it. They gave me some rice pudding (arroz con leche) which was good and as a courtesy. Will never go back there.
