This place seems great...I love rescuing animals, specially birds. If I could bring all my rescues in to meet a new bird, I'd do it in a second....but cant fit them all in the car.

Corrie, Christine, and the rest of the staff here are AMAZING, their love and care for birds are obvious from the get-go, the screening process for finding good and hopefully permanent homes for the parrots is as rigorous and professional as it should be, takes at least a month for the approval process, again, as it should be, this is NOT a pet shop where they hand birds over to anyone for money, as parrots are very high-maintenance, long-lived, wild animals that often end up being rehomed many, many times throughout their lives as new owners aren't prepared for the realities of ownership, causing incredible stress & trauma to the birds. The parrots here all looked and sounded happy, healthy, and well cared for, once your application is approved they schedule you for a visit to come see all the birds to start making a choice, they have a large outdoor aviary for exercise and for one-on-one bonding visits once you've selected a potential adoptee, they have a fantastic online course set up for first-time parrot owners that teaches you all the important basics of these fairly high-maintenance pets, and their adoption policies and rehoming fees are fair and reasonable (e.g. landlord approval required/small-medium parrots only to apartment renters). Also the staff's insight into each parrot's personality and preferences is so helpful in choosing the right one to take home - the parrot they recommended to me ended up being THE perfect fit for our home, we've fallen head over heels with him in the month-and-a-half since we brought him home, and we couldn't be happier. If you're looking for a place to adopt from, THIS is it, and if you're looking for a charity worth donating to, THIS is also it.

My wife and I adopted an Amazon from this rescue that was rescued about 4 years ago. The entire process was professional and courteous, and as it should be, in the best interest of the adopted. Pickles, my Amazon is loving and very happy. She is that way because of the care she received at the rescue as she was only a non cared for breeder parrot, so I have to give the credit to the rescue for the awesome care, love and guidance these rescues get to become awesome parts of families. Thank you for all you do, it’s very much appreciated!!

Friendly and super knowledgeable, the folks at RIPR will make sure that the bird is right for you, and you are right for the bird. Adopt. Don't shop.
