I heard about SCORE through a friend who was regularly meeting with Scott. After reaching out they got back to me the next day and assigned Scott to me. He asked me what it was I wanted to get out of our meetings. I answered with \i'm not sure exactly\. I just knew there was something I could learn from someone who has had success running a business. I reached out to SCORE for professional guidance while on the path to launching a small business. To say I have “scored” with Scott Guilbeault as my mentor is an understatement! Scott has been a highly successful entrepreneur who is extremely familiar with all aspects and stages of business development, from startups to the successful sales of several business. Scott and I meet every few weeks to work on steps and action items critical to the launch of my business. He is very encouraging, keeps me focused and provides constructive feedback as well as “to dos” at the end of each meeting to keep me progressing toward both interim and long-range goals. Scott acts as my guide; always offering things to consider in making decisions e.g. how to structure the business, what is my target market, how to create an effective business name using name generator sites, what makes me different. When making suggestions, Scott always provides a rationale with a clear explanation of the value of the action, e.g. the importance of LinkedIn relationships, how to best position my business in the market and why. Scott brings many years of success from the business world and generously shares strategies I had not considered, e.g. tracking prospects and clients to effectively manage communication. When SCORE has an upcoming event he feels would be beneficial to me, Scott sends me an email with the relevant information. Scott has been great in helping me to keep startup costs low, e.g. recommending high quality and affordable website hosting companies, reaching out to my relative who is a graphic designer to create my logo. I have been so fortunate that SCORE paired me with Scott Guilbeault as my mentor. With confidence I can say that I would not be where I am today without Scott’s business expertise and his generosity in both time and talent. His caring and professional approach has helped me immeasurably and I am privileged to be his mentee!
