One of the more impressive churches of Rome. It has been build with parts of old Roman ruins which you can admire inside and outside. I was also lucky to visit while the organ player was practicing so it gave a very special vibe to the church. As the church has very high ceilings and is enormous the organ resonates. It was wonderful visiting the church with the organ music it sounded like my own private concert.

16th century basilica dedicated to Christian Martyrs, has beautiful interiors and paintings adorning the walls.

Such a drab building from afar with little other than its dome to attract your attention, but as you get closer you quickly see that this building is much more interesting. The unexpected carvings in the huge doors are a sight to behold, enticing you inside and when your curiosity takes you on, you will not be disappointed. The highly ornate interior is captivating. Spend some time here and enrich your soul.

Of all my stops in Rome, this was by far my favorite. And it happened by chance. The unassuming entrance leads you to a truly awe inspiring interior, full of gorgeous paintings, sculptures and religious history. Mass is still celebrated here. If you are a lady, please be sure to wear clothing that covers your shoulders and front. This is a must visit if you are ever in Rome.
