Kloofendal Nature Reserve is a hidden gem of nature reserves in Johannesburg, or even in the area of its location. It offers much to do for family get together and for the kids. A visit out there is a great idea for joggers and hiking trails which offers 3 different trails in the reserve. The well kept grass areas offer lovely picnic spots.

Beautiful nature reserve. No entrance fee. Open from 6am to 6pm. If I remember, I think there are 4 hiking trails, each with its own color. If you want the longest and most scenic hiking trail, definitely follow the yellow trail. It's quite long so be prepared, you'll be hiking for about 45 minutes. You'll even reach a point during the hike that is quite elevated where u can see Sandton city in the distance. The view is amazing. There's also a nice variety of flora and fauna and you'll definitely spot dassies (hyrax) running around. They look like chunky bunnies and I wish I could take one home as a pet lol. They are so cute! Really great place to hike!

Beautiful place. Didn't go far in, but our kids loved playing in the sun and finding all the planets. Good security control at the entrance, and a beautiful find in the middle of the suburb!!

Great place for hiking enthusiasts or just relax and have a picnic. Good security. Very safe , you can take kids along too, but be very careful on the yellow trail, its a bit rocky but majestic.

Beautiful slice of earth. No entrance. Opening hours are great. Great for a hike and/or picnic. There are rock badgers and other bush animals as well as a small body of water. Lots of trails and benches to sit and take in the view.
