I would highly recommend taking lessons with Mr. Fox. I needed to pass ABRSM grade 5 music theory as part of a university application. I only had a small amount of knowledge at the start of taking lessons, but he helped teach me everything that I was unsure of, In a really friendly and enjoyable way. I ended up getting a distinction after 7 months of lessons and continue to use the skills he taught me when studying music. The lessons are always really informative, well structured and the work you do is always marked before the next lesson. In my opinion, these factors are vital to being a great teacher, which Mr. Fox is.

I began studying Acoustic guitar and music theory with Mr Fox in October 2017, in pursuit of achieving grade 5 theory and grade 8 guitar by Summer 2018. Having limited theory knowledge and only grade 5 guitar, there was a long way to go, yet attending lessons with James turned this aspiration into a reality. With the help and guidance of James I was able to not only pass both my exams but achieve a merit in both, within the short period of time. Weekly lessons with James were a joy. He was always very accommodating and patient, and made learning interesting through using different methods to clearly explain difficult concepts. He was always on hand throughout the week to provide any extra advice, via Email. Passing my music exams has provided me with a gateway to studying music at university, achieving unconditional offers. I feel that James’ knowledge and experience of music in higher education played a big role in this and I owe him a lot of credit. James has been an excellent tutor, whom I would highly recommend to anyone, whatever your musical ability. Through his tuition, I was able to unlock my true potential as a musician, and am now looking forward to enrolling at university this September!
