Oak Park Michigan Works gave me a print-out from pantrynet.org with food pantries in the area. As I drove around to all of them, I noticed they all had different days and hours than what was listed on the sheet. I contacted all of them and wrote down their correct hours and made a Word document of every pantry and the correct hours. As one example, the sheet from MI Works said Open Hands Food Pantry was open Mondays 12:30pm-2:45pm and Saturdays 9:30am-11:45pm. No one was there during those times. When I contacted Open Hands Food Pantry told me they were open Mondays at 10:30am and Saturdays 9:30am-12pm. I went there twice the past few weeks just to find them closed. Now, they're saying their hours are only Saturdays 9:30-11am. It's a shame these food pantries play low income people like this. We don't have gas money to be driving all over for nothing. Plus, I don't want to spend my only two days off a week wasting time. It is very frustrating and impossible to keep up on when food pantries change their hours often. When I contacted Open Hands, they simply did not care. Hurting the poor more than helping them is of no concern to them.

Its a good experience their very organized. They run out of meat pretty fast thou. If your a single person with no children like myself it's really not worth the trip
