can call it mini Switzerland of India. Great views, ideal Trek. I would recommend to visit this place in December last to February. You will find ice trek . Please carry a supporting stick and water bottles as nothing can be found in this 7-8 hours trek. P.S. I have seen people melting ice when they could not get water.

Best place to visit in winter. Whole place is covered with snow Camps are also very good. Trek to Tungnath is not so difficult but from tungnath to chandrashila it is quite tough. But very adventurous and amazing. Lovely place. Food is Not so good you have to compromise for good food and tea coffee. Don’t forget to Carry extra pairs of joggers, socks & undergarments.

One of the most beautiful hill stations in Uttarakhand, Chopta, also sometimes called as the Switzerland of India, is a must visit for every nature lover. Located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, Chopta can be reached by car from Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun. There's also a bus service but you'll be better off in a car. There are a few hotels and lodges, nothing fancy, just a bed and bath, but it's enough. Chopta doesn't have any electricity connectivity, the hotels have solar powered batteries. There's potable water available though. From Chopta, a 4km hike takes you to the famous Tungnath temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trek is a steep one and you can avail ponies. Another kilometer hike from Tungnath takes you to Chandrashila, but it's a difficult one. Being a high altitude hill station, Chopta can be pretty heavy on the pocket if you plan to stay for a few days.
