Heritage centre it's like a tourist information hotspot with a large scale model of olden times Rye, very impressive, it's fairly cheap and quite informative. Also if you head upstairs you'll find a penny arcade of very old arcade machines, most of which will accept coins which you may acquire at the rate of 7 for 1, 2-3 should cover the cost to try most of the machines once, there is no entrance fee for this exhibition. A little sinister in places bit good fun for all.
Charged 50p for a map of historical Rye yet given a larger map for free from Rye's Library and Information Centre. Staff made effort to be helpful but we arrived 10 mins or so before closing so wasn't enough time to find out more information. Will return again for tour
Excellent Centre with a brilliant end of the pier Automaton Museum.
Rye. A beatiful town on the south coast of England. Three are: a visitor center, a windmill, a very nice town center and a castle. The castle is not one of the area's biggest ones like Bodiam, Pevensey or Herstmonceux but it is quite beautiful. When walking to the castle you pass a church and an old cemetry. In front of the castle there are old canons ans you have a wonderful view towards the English Channel. The oldtown has a lot of different shops, stores, restaurants, pubs and fish&chips stores. As a conclusion: Rye is a visit worth.
