It's good for a day excursion. Stroll on waterfront promenade, sit on the beach, have BBQ or take a ferry to nearby islands. You can also buy fresh sea catch from the fishers directly.

If you want to enjoy life in Hong Kong, visiting Sai Kung to smell the salt in the air and the seafood on the dishes is a great option. My family like to park our car nearby and we (including our pet Kaji) would walk along this stretch of the Promenade towards the Sai Kung Seafood Street. Every time we are here, we would try to capture the refreshing mood to bring home!

It is nice to have walk in Sao Kung waterfront. You can breath fresh air as well as enjoy the sea breeze. The sea view is great. In weekend, there is a marketplace. Daily there are people selling boat tickets for visiting nearby special landscape.

The Promenade is hive of activity in Sai Kung with some interesting things to see (and taste). In addition to the large Cantonese seafood restaurants and a couple of bars, you will find sampan boat for private hire as well as boat service to area islands and beaches. Most interestingly, however, the promenade is the scene of a floating seafood market that is quite unique to see. Here you will find quite a few boats mooring along the promenade offering a wide variety of fresh seafood which they sell direct to the customers lingering above on the piers. It is a very interesting scene to witness. Fisherman negotiate directly with the crowd, When deals are made, boaters descale and fillet fresh fish right on the boat or bag the fish whole depending on what customers desire. Lots of shellfish and exotic seafood like octopi and starfish available as well. From their moored boats, fisherman send the seafood purchases up in nets to the customers waiting upon the piers. Payment is are then sent down in the same nets. It is sensible yet interesting way of conducting transactions. You almost want to buy something just to try. You can see the floating seafood market at the Sai Kung Promenade all week. On weekends it can be crowded. However, boats are usually in greater numbers as well, meaning you have more to see and more opportunity for neat photographs as well.

Lots of doggies on the weekend. It's relaxing. You can take a boat to most nearby islands /beaches (from around 30 to 150 hkd). Also, beware of pick pockets!
