Spectacularly dramatic and very moving. Amazingly preserved, given the imposing height of the structure. Very highly recommended to visit. It is awe inspiring. Oh, to be a time traveller and visit this in its heyday, but without the gore, cruelty and fear!

I visited this place back in March 2019 and had a really good time. It’s fun to see the unique history that Saintes has, or of any town for that matter. While visiting, it’s fun to imagine what it might have been like to be in Saintes when the Romans first got there. Definitely walk the grounds! It’s like you are being a part of Greek Theatre!

Great historical place with easy access and you can walk around easy in every place. Friendly people. We got in for free and there were only 6 other persons in there.

I had no idea this place even existed until a few days ago when I found an article when looking for something else. Well worth the trip, involving bike ride, ferry and train. It is a very well kept site, well presented and well explained in the information panels and on the guide leaflet. But as others say, simply to stand there and look around a stadium built nearly 2,000 years ago is an experience not to forget. As a comparison for size, it probably held as many spectators as does the current Centre Court at Wimbledon.

A beautiful example of an amphitheatre. You can really get a sense of how it would have felt to go there. Amazingly well preserved! Well worth a visit.

A must see place for historians- well presented and kept. Entrance fee is small and a good map and guide. You get an excellent feel for what it was like. Refreshments available.

It's a bit of a challenge to find in a car, parking is limited at the front gate. You can see most of the site for free from beside the entrance. Entry is free for disabled visitors but to get in you have to go up two steps, and then you won't get very far without meeting more flights of steps. But if you can walk around it is worth the 4 admission. Much of the amphitheatre was based on the slope of the hill but the remains of the East wall are impressive. Would be a good site to give kids a taste for visiting ancient remains.
