Interesting place, but I would recommend to NOT visit the museum nearby. It's full of weird, high-tech holographic screens and tunnels that are difficult to navigate. There was this strange, blue-haired woman in an apron who was giving a speech that she would \entrust the world to idols\ (whatever that means) in there, and she eventually started chasing me out with Haniwa warriors. The music that was being played in there was pretty good, though.

I travelled for two hours only to wind up in a place that much appears like a forest. So wish they had opened up the burial chambers for us to see and all. The museum was also a bit disappointing, since the exhibition was so small. However, it's worth the money where at 100 (student price), you can catch a movie and view the whole exhibition. But even that, the entire exhibition does not entirely have English subtitles. Halfway through the exhibition, and all the signs were in Japanese. I don't even know what I was viewing and all. Not exactly a foreigner-friendly, and neither it is a tourist-friendly place.
Very friendly, very clear instructions were given. They speak English very well. There was also a change to take pictures with the Kimonos. It was a great learning experience. Now I learn the correct way of drinking tea.
Same as other peeps says. There's no observatory to have an overview of the mound. The mound is huge and surrounded by gates, so you can't actually see inside or out. I would pass up on going over there.
What they don’t tell you is that you can’t enter the inner area or see anything because it’s all closed off. Not very interesting, do not recommend
