A fabulous example of a Brunton lighthouse. Henry Brunton came to Japan in 1868 to advise the Government on the establishment of a lighthouse service. He sailed around the coast on HMS Manilla, and in December of that year came here and, after surveying the site, decided that it was perfect for a lighthouse: this part of the Seto Inland Sea having treacherous currents. The lighthouse was completed a few years later and is built to a typical Brunton design: solid and squat so as to withstand earthquake and typhoon. The building is only open one day a year but that doesn't mean that you cannot admire the exterior and the lovely views over the Seto Inland Sea.

ある期間を除いては中に入れません。鉄の扉で閉めています。遠くからであれば灯台の頭だけ見ることができます。 You cannot come into this light house except for a term. Here is closed with a steal gate. You can just see the top of this by far.

快速マリンライナー車窓からの１枚の左隅に写っている、与島の南端にある鍋島に立つ『鍋島燈台』。
普段は立ち入り禁止になっていますが ４月か11月（11/1灯台の日）あたりに 特別限定公開するイベントもあるみたいです。 鍋島に入ると坂も急で土道なので運動靴のほうがよいと思います 貴重な灯台だそうなので、限定公開のイベントがあるときは見に行ってみるのも良いかなと思います。
