Salamanca is an ancient university town situated in the west of Spain in the Autonomous Community of Castilla & León. The city's historic centre has important Romanesque, Gothic, Moorish, Renaissance & Baroque monuments. The Roman bridge at Salamanca crosses the Tormes River on the banks of the city of Salamanca, in Castile & León, Spain. It was declared Artistic Historic Monument on 03-Jun-1931 and has Bien de Interés Cultural status since 1998. Until the beginning of 20th century the bridge carried the main road into the city, and continued to bear heavy traffic until 1973. After the construction of a third bridge for road traffic it remains exclusive for pedestrians.

A beautiful historic bridge with great views of the old city. Many pilgrims walk over this bridge.

Bridges are an incredible feat of engineering. Especially those of stone spanning long distances and rivers. Subtle wonder with this one.. enjoy the view!

Quite unexpected. Loved seeing the brook and dogs going in the water. There was a dog park. Very open for walking around.

The bridge itself is simple but historically it's quite epic and the views of the city from across the bridge are impressive
