North Gate is the main entrance from Salisbury High Street to the Cathedral Close. It was built in the 14th century but a more modern statue of King Edward VII now stands in the niche above the gate. Surprisingly, as you'll discover when you are admiring it, cars are allowed to pass through it.

Absolutely beautiful and with the back drop of cobblestone streets and the same styled houses its wonderful to stroll down the streets browsing at the many shops. Coming the other way the site is just as beautiful however, with the cathedral just down the road and a large square and plenty of green grass and trees around the cathedral area.

I like how, through the development of the buildings around it, the gate has grown into the city landscape.
