A lifetime dream to walk among the stones! I had the privilege of a private sunrise tour that allowed access to the center of the circle. Magical. Exhilarating. An absolute addition to anyone's bucket list.

I booked a tour with #evenevenstours. Our guide Rhys Thomas was one of the best guides ever, really knowledgeable. Our driver Joe was also a professional. The trip was an amazing experience. The Windsor Castle is breathtaking and majestic. Stonehenge is one unforgettable and mysterious landmark. And Bath was such a nice city to walk around and just enjoy the view! I wish we had more time to spend in these three places, but as Rhys said, this was just a \highlights tour\. All in all, everything was perfect, I'd do it all over again!

To this day, no one knows for sure the origin or function of Stonehenge, a stone building in a circle located in the Salisbury region of England. It is estimated that it has existed for more than 3500 years and several possibilities for its existence have already been raised: it is said that it functioned as a cemetery for the elite of 3000 BC, as a place of healing or even to indicate the cycle days of the year. It is necessary to know this enigmatic part of the history of England, which can be done in a quiet train journey of 1h30 leaving from London to Salisbury.

Many early historians were influenced by supernatural folktales in their explanations. Some legends held that Merlin had a giant build the structure for him or that he had magically transported it from Mount Killaraus in Ireland, while others held the Devil responsible. Radiocarbon dating of the site indicates that the building of the monument at the site began around the year 3100 BC and ended around the year 1600 BC. Source - Google, Wikipedia

Great place to visit! Highly recommend, but tourist are not permitted to walk up to the stones. There is a very nice path around the perimeter to view them from all sides. Pets are NOT permitted!
