We were complete novices but Andy is a kind and encouraging teacher, as well as an expert woodsman, and we were delighted with our kuksas. We camped on site too, which was perfect (even in the rain!) The facilities are superb - from the large and airy workshop well kitted out with high quality tools to the delightful camp kitchen - altogether a magical experience!

The loveliest Kuksa carving course - we learnt a lot about greenwood working (as beginners) under Andy's patient guidance and stayed in the beautiful wild camping site in the woods, especially enjoyed the home built rocket stove! A really peaceful, friendly atmosphere - can't wait to be back soon. Thanks Andy & Jane!

Brilliant place to learn basic green woodworking skills, or to move on with a more advanced course. Andy is a patient course leader with all the resources to build confidence and skills in a beautiful environment.

I highly recommend Sallerton Wood as a wonderful place to learn. I attended two of Andy's courses in June 2019- \An Introduction to green Woodwork\ followed by the \Make a Shave Horse\ course. Throughout, I felt like I was learning from a true craftsman and someone who loves what they do. He teaches in a non-intrusive manner- he demonstrates and then allows you to try yourself, giving you the responsibility to get on with it and providing guidance when necessary. I felt like both courses were well structured yet relaxed at the same time. Andy has really inspired me on my journey into green woodwork and I hope to join him again for another course soon.

I had a fantastic time making my own shave horse. It was a full on course but guided by an expert hand with patience and humour. I would recommend this course to any wood work lovers out there!! To be out in the midst of nature with its tranquility was just a bonus and made the course all the more special. Thanks for a great few days
