Pretty area with amazing cliff mountains, but definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We went here on a weekend in the middle of the summer and it was almost too crowded on the first section. There are lots of sections where the road is only wide enough for one vehicle, for there are cliffs on both sides and you hold your breath that you don't run into anyone coming the other direction or it will be terrifying to back up. We headed to this area to see Pittsburgh lake. You can't get all the way to the lake on the road. You still have to get out and hike the last few miles. The Miller mine area though is facinating that they did really great mining this area until the area became toxic because of the chemicals in the water.
Amazing! Far away from civilization! Honestly I have no idea where this was. If it was clear up the rocky road then it was spectacular
Not as much to see as I would have liked but still a fun place to check out and read about the history of mining in American Fork canyon. Read the ghost story of Ed Hines online before you go for extra fun. It is a dirt road and may not be passable in a car. I would recommend 4WD, a UTV, motorcycle, etc. to get there.
Pittsburgh Flats has lots of great camp areas - you need a 4 wheel drive to get there.
Not much to see here but there is a lot of information about the history.
Love 4wd'ng this area. Great trails everywhere.
