Nice little museum with Christmas decorations, paintings and items especially about the past: there was an interesting window with first world war decorations for the Christmas tree (it would be unbelievable to hang weapons on the tree today!) and postcards. We missed a similar second world war window (it is known that also the Nazis had special decorations) but the topic is very delicate nowadays, but still it is a pity this historical period is not covered. The only negative point was the lady at the ticket shop that was not particularly kind and seemed bothered by our arrival and the high prices of the decorations. Entrance fees included in the Salzburg card.

Beautiful little museum right beside the Mozart statue. We spent a little under an hour looking at all the pretty exhibits, showing decorations and traditions of Christmas past. Ten year old enjoyed it very much and learned about Krampus tradition for first time. He also found the changes in style of clothing of St Nicolas throughout the years to be interesting. Definitely worth a visit and there is free entry with the Salzburg Card.
Do you love Christmas? Then surely you have to visit this really nice Museum. In the hearth of Salizburg, directly on the corner of Mozartplatz.
A small museum with interesting information about Christmas traditions in the region over the years.
Neat little museum. Great to visit during the Christmas period.
The visit to Weihnachtsmuseum has been a pleasant surprise. You can discover how advent calendars have looked like 80 years ago, what's about with St. Nicholas and Krampus or how Christmas decoration changed according to historical events over time. If you like to read a bit about the displayed items allow a good hour.
A nice museum for all people that like symbols of Christmans.
Interesting fine Christmas collections from different periods of time showing us how was Christmas celebrated in Austria and Germany. A magic, enchanting place for children as well as for grown ups, you do experience the joy of Christmas while you' re there
