When my daughter and I first met Sam we had been floundering, trying to get a solid foundation with our horses with other trainers. Sam turned everything around in record time. She assessed our strengths and weaknesses immediately and then put us all into a program that gave us the skills and a much-needed sense of direction to really get the most out of our horses and ourselves. I have since gone to dressage and wanted Sam to continue to coach me but, in typical Sam manner, she put integrity ahead of income and told me honestly that she couldn't devote proper time to such an endeavor and still meet the needs of her other students. (As an aside, my new trainer knows Sam by reputation and has seen her work horses a few times and also thinks very highly of her). Lucky for me, my daughter is still with Sam so I get to visit with her and watch her work- it is always a delight and a learning experience. As for my daughter, she is now not only achieving her goal of being an accomplished horsewoman (High Point her fist time out with her new partner at a regional show!) she has blossomed with confidence, strength, savvy and sense of self that is just a joy to witness. Sam is more than a skilled and ethcial trainer; she is a smart, driven business woman, a HARD worker, and a wonderful, caring mentor for the students under her tutelage. I would recommend her to anyone (beginner through advanced) who wants to take their skill set and relationship with their horse to the next level.

I've worked with Sam over the last year and it was the best decision I've made. I am a beginner who simply wanted to learn how to ride a horse. I've been amazed at what I've learned. We've been working on the lope, trot and jog, but we also do some trail work such as the sidepass, cross over logs, or work on patterns. Some weeks we simply go out for a trail ride. She works in a beautiful part of Arizona where there are many trails to choose from. Sam is able to quickly identify the challenge the rider and the horse is facing. She is able to clearly communicate how to work to overcome those challenges. Sam is able to answer my endless questions and she always has a new idea about how we can continue to make progress. Sam creates a safe, fun environment where you are likely to have a number of laughs throughout your lesson. I recommend her completely.

Sam has helped both my son (age 8) and I greatly improve our riding. I feel really lucky to have found such a knowledgeable and honest trainer to help us both. In addition to riding instruction Sam helped me buy my first horse and has been training him as a reiner. I would highly recommend Sam to anyone, and I look forward to continuing to work with her for years to come.
