When I arrived in Gran Canaria I started having private tennis coaching lessons and my coach recommended Darrod Tennis Academy for the adult group classes. Dani and the coaches made my partner and I feel part of their academy family from day 1, then we knew we were lucky to have found such place! Despite being new to tennis and not having played for long, the coaches at the academy were very friendly, patient and most importantly, their sessions were always fun but also a good workout as they made us work hard during the drills! When it was time to leave the island, it was very hard to say goodbye and I already miss the coaches and attending the sessions on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights and Saturday mornings for a special double session! I was also lucky to have had a few private coaching sessions on both the clay and hard courts. I highly recommend the academy if you’re visiting the island and have been playing tennis for a long time or not that long like me. I have no doubt that Dani and his team will have something for everyone! I hope to come back to Gran Canaria in the future and will certainly be stopping by Darrod tennis academy!

My girlfriend and I spent a few months in Gran Canaria and were lucky enough to find this place. The academy offers adult group tennis sessions 4 evenings and one morning per week (closed Tuesday & Sunday). Group size is limited to 5 people maximum and the sessions are a mixture of coaching drills (with pointers on technique), and fun games. Coaches are friendly, and most speak good English. They make you work so it’s a workout as well as a tennis session. All playing levels are catered for so the sessions are suitable for beginners as well as intermediate players. Participating in the sessions is very different from just playing with a partner. They’re fun, social, and give you a good chance to have coaching without the high expense of 1:1 coaches. Even if you only have a couple of weeks on the island I’d recommend going along for a few sessions. Most of the time group classes are held on lovely, well-maintained clay courts which are also a available for private hire. Darrod tennis academy is one of the main reasons I’ll be coming back to Gran Canaria as soon as possible!
