Having had two major operations in the last 3 years, each having meant over 2 weeks in this hospital, I cannot fault the treatment and care given by all the staff, from the cleaners to the senior surgeons. Follow up monitoring is thorough and efficient even if you may have to wait a while when you go for an appointment, you get seen and given whatever time is needed. For a public health service I think it is doing it's best in sometimes very difficult circumstances. My only complaint is with the food for patients, overcooked vegetables, lukewarm or cold, especially the soup, and mostly tasteless.

I'm giving it one star just for being there I suppose. I went after a referral from my private doctor because I needed treatment for breast cancer. I saw two doctors, made it clear I was paying privately so they sent me for yet another biopsy. I had that, nurse said I would be contacted after a week. That was 5 weeks ago. They contacted my previous radiologist and said they were too busy to treat me. I went elsewhere. Now I'm complaining to all the relevant authorities including the press and the Doctors Licensing authority.
A mi esposo se le negaron los derechos humanos basicos y su condición empeoró por un trato inhumano en la sala de neurocirujia. My husband was left in bed, restrained and forced to wear nappies for 32 days. He is not incontinent or dangerous, just confused from a head injury. He was so weak, depressed and ill that I voluntarily discharged him. They use dangerous restraints here, just so they do not have to bother supervising properly. He was left with soiled pads for hours on end and he was so sore, with red and peeling skin that a dermatologist had to be consulted. He also contracted hospital acquired pneumonia which has a 15 - 20% mortality rate.
I am so glad I found this hospital in Tenerife! I did not have travel insurance (yes, really stupid and learned the hard way) and this was the only place where I was accepted without paying astronomical sums of money for emergency treatment. This was my first time ever in a hospital, so I was really nervous and stressing out. I was in a lot of pain, and the staff were really understanding, caring and seemed to have a huge interest in the well-being of all the patients. I would say 50% of the staff speak basic English, but most doctors speak English really well. A massive thank you for Dr. Menendez and his attendants Dr. Rosat and Dr. A. Diaz. Also many thanks to all the friendly and helpful nurses. This hospital does not have the state-of-the-art technology, it is a teaching hospital and none of them do.
This hospital is the absolut nighmare. The staff is unfriendly, they pushed us out of the emergency where our friend was unconscious laying. They were not able to give us any information about his health when we called later, it was a torture to deal with this institution. In any case try to avoid this hospital.
What a nightmare.
