The year has changed so much and we've finally gotten the opportunity to experience a very enjoyable #tastingmenu from Merchant Roots. They have a rotating themed menu every three months and its currently two outdoor tables up to 4 persons each available via online reservations only. The outdoor decor is beautifully matched to the theme. I had forgotten to take some photos of the design, being to distracted by the dinner. The current theme: The #Elements ...courses: #Moon: buttermilk panna cotta, citrus moon milk snow, olive oil dust #Water: jasmine lychee clarification, aloe, lilypad (the pop of flavor from the leaf was so tasteful) #Salt: nori-buttered #octopus, charcoal sea sponge, dashi bubbles (absolutely loved this dish and the variety of flavors) #Earth: rye caraway, pan-roasted carrot, creamy dill dressing (one of my favorites on this menu) #Sun: gold beet solini in burre blanc, fermented habenaro, sunflowers #Fire: 72day dry-aged rib-eye, sunchoke coals, bordelaise, horseradish ash #Star: tête de moine, brioche beignet, membrillo, orion, gold #Air: cardamom-rose vanilla, poached pear, pistachio gelato, baklava #Comet: minted milk #chocolate truffle, cotton candy Next time, we're going to opt with the wine pairing as well. We had ordered some bottles of wine and they were all great, but it definitely left us wanting to have tried the chef's recommended wine pairing for the menu. The price point for all of this was well worth it. Highly recommend and we're very much considering trying each theme every quarter

Merchant Roots has themed Chef's Table dining experience and AMAZING is the only word I can use to describe it. We had 9 courses and wine pairings with each. It showed that the chef and his team put thought and intricate detail into every course. We had seven people in our group and we all were utterly floored. If you are a foodie and open to a mind blowing dining experience, you must make reservations for Merchant Roots!!! Dee-Lish!!!!

Great meal and friendly chefs. Inventive dishes and even dishware with fun stories. The salad course was my favorite, delicate tastes and tender veggies. However the sommelier was really hard to work with as someone with very little wine expertise and she found it unreasonable for us to ask her to just pick a bottle for us.

Its a cute gourmet shop with house made Italian goods. They offer some prepared sandwich and salads and coffee. You can also sit down and have them in house as well. Crew is helpful and friendly and quality of products are top notch

We went in for their 10-course meal which is only offered a few times a month with limited seating. We were blown away by the creativity and storytelling behind their menu. I was really intrigued that only a few individuals could come up with such unique perspectives on food. While there were tasty dishes, to be perfectly honest, even the most beautiful dish doesn't always translate to a tasty one. I understand that it is a 10 course meal, I would have appreciated a little less formality in the service considering there were only six people at the table so I could ask questions or inquire about the meal/wine. One thing that I found infuriating and should be reviewed by the owners was having a member of my party charged 4 for a cup of coffee after the four of us spent 168 per person on the meal and another 85 per person on the wine (over 1000 total). When you prepay for a meal and tips, you expect this to be included. This seemed insulting, like nickle and diming your guests, and closed our experience out on a sour note. But all in all, a truly talented team of creative chefs and sommelier.
