During COVID they've combined the menus of State Bird Provisions and The Progress. We had their roasted Broccoli and Squash Salad, CA State Bird (fried quail), and Black Cod. The chili vinaigrette for the salad was incredibly creamy and flavorful but not overpowering. The fried quail was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside! I thought the portion size for the quail dish was the most worth it out of all the dishes. The cod was very soft and flavorful, and went very well with the beans, sauce, and garnish vegetables. Overall the taste and textures of the dishes were amazing, though the dishes are all quite pricey. Entrees are all around 32 and the portions are definitely tapas style.

Nice set up for outdoor dining. Staff is very nice and respectful and they keep everything very safe for you. Food is amazing, loved the different flavour mix. We had the beef, black cod, brussel sprouts and cauliflower and recommend it them all. It is hard to find a booking spot, so book in advance if you want to dine here. Ice cream sandwich was really nice with a pumpkin flavour. It was my bday so they organized a little surprise getting a little dessert sparkler! Will definitely come back!

This has been on my list for a while and we finally made it!!! Even though we had a reservation, they were definitely running behind that evening so we decided to get a drink around the corner per the hostess' recommendation. Shortly after we got our drinks, we got a text that our table was ready...hmm...a bit annoyed but we decided to stay and enjoy our drinks. When we checked back in, there was a pretty big gathering of people waiting but thankfully, we were seated quickly and kept our place in line. Now the fun begins!! We got to sit at one of the counter seats, and watch all the prep work. Good wine selection. The best part of the evening was watching all the carts roll by with yummy goodies. At first, I felt a bit overwhelmed between having to decide between the cart or the menu, but you soon realize the cart selections are limited. Definitely one of those fun food experiences where you can take your time eating, enjoy the food, keep ordering as you go along if you're still hungry.

I have been here multiple times and it's always a fun experience. It's California food served dim sum style with mobile carts. I had a wine they suggested that paired perfectly with many of the foot items. The restaurant is cozy and has a vibrant atmosphere. Walk ins are usually accomodated if you get there at 5:30pm.

State Bird Provisions is and forever will be one of my favorite restaurants on the planet and I can't wait to go back after the COVID19 epidemic. In fact, it might be my first stop. That said, while I have some time on my hands I thought it would be a good idea to update my review. I was able to snag a reservation a couple months ago for the bar seats (my favorite) and boy was it a blast. The service is always the best at the bar because you get first crack at everything coming out of the kitchen! My favorites since day one and continue to rock my world are: the guinea hen dumpling, oyster, duck liver mousse and heck, everything on the menu! The wine list is still super geeky, the service impeccable and passionate owners. Still one of the best restaurants in the city.
