When I started coming here a few years ago, I was incredibly shy and reserved. Throughout the time I've been going to San Kawa, I've opened up a lot. Obviously people will grow, but it's no secret that this dojo promoted that. There's a sense of unity and respect for each other. No one is turned down. The senseis are patient. Everyone is very welcoming. You are taught Kendo, obviously, but you're also taught discipline, respect, power, and teamwork- and it's a darn good workout too! I'm mostly just speaking from experience, but Kendo truly did make my life better.

San Kawa Kendo Dojo is a great place for anyone wanting to learn kendo ('Japanese fencing'). The members are very welcoming and instructors take pride in training new members. This dojo isn't just a place to train, its a family.
The instructors are very helpful and friendly. And the members are all well mannered and easy to talk to. The atmosphere is wonderful and there is a great family vibe in the club. New beginners are welcomed and are given lots of attention when they start out and are not left to just follow along. They have monthly socials to bond and get to know every member. They are very accomodating to international visitors as well as visitors from other clubs which is refreshing and creates a good moral for all kendo players. If you reside in the rosebank area and are interested in starting kendo I recommend you give these guys a call.
