Alma was born to be a teacher! I came to Alma wanting to improve my Spanish and get closer to an intermediate level. It's clear she works hard to tailor her classes to each student's skill set. Our lessons are a combination of grammar, culture, conversation, games, and lots of laughter, making for a very practical (and fun!) experience. In just a few lessons, I felt like I was talking with a friend. In terms of other background/logistics, Alma is very knowledgeable about San Miguel, flexible with her schedule, and her studio is conveniently located in Centro, close to the Parroquia. I'm thankful to be studying with her and would happily recommend her for either short or long-term lessons.
Alma is fantastic! She gave private lessons to my husband, my 7 year old daughter, and me. We are all at different levels, so as a teacher, we must have been a challenge! We asked to help with conversational Spanish. We walked to different locations (library, park, Bellas Artes) and did our lesson in those places. She had a lot of stories about San Miguel and suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. She is very friendly and happy. The lessons were a lot of fun - she has a bunch of different games to help us learn. We all walked away with a new friend and better use of Spanish. Thank you, Alma!
Alma was great ! I spent a week in Mexico and took 1 lesson with her. Her approach is practical and conversational so if all you're trying to do is speak with the locals, I would highly recommend her ! :] muchas gracias !
I have been taking classes with Alma for about 3 months now and can say she is the best... learning Spanish with Alma has not only been fun but fulfilling in so many other ways... As a teacher of twelve years, I am pretty picky when it comes to language tutors. My brief series of lessons with Alma were engaging, jam packed with learning and full of laughter. I look forward to continuing my studies upon my return to magical San Miguel.
My daughter is in a Spanish Immersion Elementary School. After school switched to online education I was concerned about my daughter losing contact with the Spanish language. Alma made staying connected easy, fun and has kept my daughter learning. She has been meeting virtually with my daughter for almost two months now and my daughter always looks forward to her classes with Alma! Thanks Alma for making learning fun!
While in San Miguel for a month, I hoped to improve my advancing beginner Spanish, but didn't want a full immersion every day classroom approach. I first tried a private lesson from another teacher in town and was unimpressed. So I did more research and fortunately found Alma. She's a wonderful person and an excellent teacher with a fun, proven strategy to help your brain retain key concepts as you learn. Alma can switch between Spanish and English where needed and her positive personality never makes you feel bad as she corrects you. I chose two or three hour-long lessons each week and the time flew by. She was able to adapt to my schedule and her classroom is right downtown near the Paroquia. Learn Spanish with Alma, you'll be glad you did!.
