Very ''handsome'' lighthouse. Faro de Punta Orchilla AD 1933. Punta de la Orchilla is one of the most westerly points in the Canarias archipelago. From this necessity, there was a need to locate a lighthouse there. It is the westernmost solar power light source lighthouse in Spain and in Europe. The lighthouse tower has an octagon base. The height of the lighthouse tower is 25 meters (82 ft). Focal height (tower height plus hill height) reaches 132 m a.s.l. (433 ft). The lantern has first-order lighthouse Fresnel lens. Due to this, the light range is 24 nautical mile (44.44800 km). Light Faro de Punta Orchilla gives a sense of security to all sailing ships in the Canarias archipelago. Lighthouse characteristic: L 0 3 oc 4 7. Spain number ES-13060 (UK Hydrographic Office No D2836; National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency No 23808; Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society No CAI-066). Faro de Punta Orchilla is under the management of Autoridad Portuaria de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. I was there in September 2019.

One of the best spot on the island. The lighthouse can be seen from afar, since it’s the only construction in the arid and volcanic area. As of the time of this review, it’s one of the most difficult spots to get to, since the roads leading here are steep, narrow and, in their final section, become a rough and dusty dirt road.
Quite remote but worth the visit. As you walk down the road, head for the wooden cross. You can access a lava tube and walk down through it. Takes you down down down! Bring a torch! Worth driving all the way for the views on the way there.
Last bit is only unpaved road. The lighthouse is really beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Continue the road even further to get down to a pier which is a nice place for a swim.
A lone lighthouse in the end of a long and winding dirt road. Just as a lighthouse should be.
Quiet place, where not many people wander...able to see the lighthouse from outside and all the volcanic surrounding...close by there is an access to the point where the equator crosses the island, but only accessible by the 4x4 vehicules.
