One of the most interesting sites in Italy, replete with history, only 2.50 to enter and often practically empty of people. This is the second-largest amphitheater in Italy (the Colosseum in Rome is larger), and there is some evidence that this is the FIRST and oldest of all known Roman amphitheaters. This is the site of the first Roman gladiator school and also the place where Spartacus began his famous “slave revolt” against the Roman Republic. The site also allows access to the “basement” of the amphitheater, which is very interesting and expansive. 4 stars because the “museum” on site is two small rooms with a few artifacts on display, and the only information available is very limited and in Italian only.

Hidden treasure of Italy. Enjoyed a friendly private tour with a professional guide who was knowledgeable about Archeology and gladiators (Spartacus). Great view of underneath an arena!

Rellay great place to visit. Unfortunately, there is much more that could be done for this archaeological site. Not enough information is shared, most has to be researched by one own initiative.

After seeing this place I've made a new goal to see all of the amphitheatures on the list. It was awesome. I will be bringing everyone I know to see it and since I'm living in Caserta it will be alot of people. It was amazing.

Very underrated place to visit. Only 2 per ticket, you get to visit a small museum and go into the arena. Not just around the arena, but underneath where all the slaves and animals would have been kept. Every time I've been here it's been almost completely empty. Very different from the busy colliseum in Rome.
