We stayed at the hotel and had a couple lovely meals, very friendly staff, explained the menu and made some good wine recommendations. Semi open air seating near a courtyard area, very peaceful part of the village. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was delicious and well presented, portions differed but were all ok (lots of duck, the prawns were a nice lighter meal). Reasonably priced, recommended! We ate in the traditional Catalan restaurant, not the adjoining Italian.

Santa Pau is a little village in La Garrotxa that you shouldn't forget to visit it. When you visit this place one of the best restaurants that you can eat is Cal Sastre. They will give you a great welcomed and they will recommend you theirs dishes. I'm sure that you will enjoy with all the dishes that you ordered. Don't forget to book in advance.

We wanted to go for a light meal and we just wanted starters and desert. We were not allowed as it was 'not possible'. We added salmon as second dish. We didn't like it as it was quite raw. I hope the 'responsable' can learn that having 20euros more does not pay off and that he shoukd rather try to accomodate the clients to avoid bad reviews.

Make sure you don't go to the italian section (run by a woman who shouldn't be in the service industry). She yanked the menus out of mine an my girlfriend's hands after 5 minutes because new guests had arrived. We also witnessed how she casually walked up to another couple and said \you don't need this right?\ before taking one of their wine glasses, explaining \we have run out of wine glasses\ before walking away to another table, putting the glass down there. The food you may wonder? The most sub par carbonara I've ever had. It had what _looked_ but most certainly _wasn't_ parmesan, rendering the dish completely tasteless. Don't go here.
