This medieval village nestled between ancient volcanos has great charm and is far less commercial (and smaller) than Bessalu. One could be forgiven for thinking that time had stood still for hundreds of years.

Santa Pau is an old, medieval, Catalan town in the volcanic zone of la Garrotxa. It's a little like a Monells that hasn't been fully restored yet.
