SIMPLY THE BEST!!! BETTER THAN ALL THE REST!!! Me and my family decided to have lunch at Mercado de Abastos de Santiago... well... what a outstanding experience!!!! Every time we go to Santiago de Compostela this market is our mandatory stop by. It's better to arrive very early so you can choose the best seafood and then can be prepared by their own staff... and guess what... the meal is simply delicious!!!!!! And off course... a family memory.

Old fashioned produce, fish, meat, baked goods, cheese, variety of sausages and cured meat and flower market with hundreds of vendors open daily 0800 to 1500. You'll also find other vendors on the surrounding streets selling all kind of things including clothing items and homemade items like jams and jelly and so on. There are also a number of restaurants in the market or on the streets surrounding the market. There is a restaurant in the market that if you take your fish or meat there they cook it for you for only 5. The caveat is you have to buy your side dishes and beverages from them, which is fair after all. Even if you don't buy anything it's worth going for a tour.

Amazing market place for watching the tradicional local food. Good prices. Great atmosphere. And a lot of history.... Totally recommended.

Fresh food galore. Traditional market with vendors from the local countryside selling their wares. Fresh fruit, veggies, fish and meat if you're self catering in Santiago
