I discovered Tonkatsu Tamafuji by accident while I was at walking through ESTA building near to Sapporo station more than 14 years ago. I have been back every other year and never failed to stop by for a meal. The use good quality pork, oysters and prawns to make their tonkatsu. The service is excellent and for those who don’t speak Japanese, there is an English menu. They have kept their standards very high throughout these years using fresh bread daily to make their crumbs. For small eaters, they have a combo mix of pork medallions or with prawns or oysters or their standard 120g - 150g meals. If you are a big eater like me go for the 400g pork and order another side of prawns. The meals comes with 2 types of soup, 3 types of rice of choice and all the cabbage you can eat plus pickled plums and radishes. They pork should be eaten with sesame seeds that you can grind yourself and mix with either a spicy sweet or sweet sauce. My favourite is the clam rice and traditional miso soup. They are located on 10 floor of Esta Building which is accessible from Sapporo Station via Stellar Place through to Esta building. The accept cash and major credit cards.

Pretty standard tonkatsu place. Good, but nothing special. Has nice selection of mixed rice to choose from, though.

The deep fried pork chop in this restaurant is excellent! It is very crunchy outside and juicy inside. I highly recommended this restaurant if you travel to Sapporro!
