Interesting historic industrial buildings from the 19th century surrounded by a beautiful landscape. Tours of the mine take 1.5 hours and cost 150 NOK.

Personally I don't get it. But people seem to enjoy it. If these buildings by Zhuntor can bring some tourists to Sauda, it will benefit even the doubters. In any case I encourage everyone to go see the buildings. The current location on google map is wrong. The map points you to the old tourist information office wich has moved to the public library
So wonderful example of how architecture can coexist with nature. Every fan of the Zumthor's talent must see this!
I haven't been to the mines but the cafe is worth a visit too. Cool building standing on wooden columns with a beautiful view over the nearby river.
It's madness. An old zinc mine has gotten a café, museum and restrooms designed by a famous architect, and for the life of me I can't understand why.
A perfect place and museum to stop for along the national tourist roads in Norway. Excellent food, nice scenery, interesting history, geology, and world class architecture from the swiss Pritzker price winning architect Peter Zumthor.
Could not find. Not clear directions.
Spennende plass å ta en stopp. Naturen er storslått, og museumet er helt klart vert et besøk.
