We took ownership of the restaurant mid-August 2016 and have been very busy upgrading the interior,the kitchen, and the food quality. As of October 2016, we have not been able to gain rights to the existing website (arizonabbqshack.com) so we are creating this new site to let you know about all the wonderful changes!      Our meats are dry rubbed with unique house blended spices then smoked for up to 14 hours. This long and special process give each meat its own style and character. One star for the excellent baked beans. Everything else was terrible! Dried out pulled chicken - some not even edible! Think of Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation and how their Turkey turned out! Cole Slaw was a joke. Literally dry shredded cabbage thrown in a container and about a teaspoon of some dressing shot on top. Like your cabbage extra fresh - that’s what they have here! I can’t believe they charge 3.50 for that cabbage. Two chicken sandwiches and two sides 29. Such a terrible deal for such bad food!

Hey Joe why don’t you learn how to make some barbecue or pack it up and give it back to a person that actually cares. Sad to see the reviews of this place I really wanted to give it a try but sadly not if Joe is the owner

AZ BBQ Shack deserves 0 stars! Do yourself a favor and support local restaurants that actually care about their customers. AZ BBQ Shack committed to a catering order with no intention of following through, despite confirming the order on multiple occasions. My family had to make other arrangements at the last minute to cover for their mistake. To add to that, when contacted the next day for a refund, no apology at all was given. Don’t let this business ruin your day by committing to an order, taking your money, then not following through on the order, and acting like you inconvenienced them when confronted for a refund. Horrible experience!

I was planning a surprise birthday party for my wife Joyce, and I choose the Arizona BBQ Shack located on 8471 E McDonald Dr. Scottsdale. At 1:09 on Thursday February 11, 2021, I stopped in and spoke to Che. The first thing I said was, I went online and filled out the Catering section on the website but no one ever responded, so I stopped in person to place my order. I should have followed my gut, and not place an order, but I did. The party was scheduled on Monday February 15th. Che said they are closed on Monday but she would fulfill my order and deliver it to my residence at 6:15pm, which was under 2 miles away. I paid in full with my credit card on 2/11 and also gave her a TIP, I called Che on Saturday 2/13 to add to the order because more people we going to attend. At 6:15pm on Monday 2/15, I was expecting the catering to arrive. I called 3 times and left messages with my cell #, and at 6:40 I drove to the AZ BBQ Shack. It was closed and dark. My guests were at my home with NO FOOD. On Tuesday morning 2/16, I was expecting a phone call from Che, but I did not receive one. At 1:00 pm on Tuesday my wife and I stopped in. She looked at me with a puzzled look and I asked her if she remembered me. She said she did, there was no apology or remorse. Her husband Joe was right behind her and he did not come out to apologize either. I put my credit card on the bar and asked if she was going to credit the 2 charges I paid. She said she was working on it. What makes me mad was Che did not take responsibility for the Big Error. There was no offer for compensation and my tip that I gave her is still in her pocket. The Customer Service I received from Che was terrible and the surprise birthday party for 15 was an absolute BUST. Doug Seide

Very neat and accessible restaurant. They serve generous portions and for economical rates. I enjoyed the food a lot and the staff were super amiable and informative. Will definitely recommend this spot.
