Just north of Scottsdale is the Tonto National Forrest and the road splits into Bartlett Dam Road and leads to a beautiful small lake that is fed by the Verde River. The surrounding countryside is very photogenic which included the ride up here, which included a modern day ghost town that somehow found life. Attached there are pictures hope you enjoy as much as we have in getting them.

The dirt road which is called Horseshoe Dam Road, that takes you to campgrounds, Horseshoe Dam and Horseshoe lake. It is in horrible condition and needs to be fixed/smoothed out. That dirt road is so washboarding in many areas, to where only one vehicle can go through at a time. Pot holes all through it. It is just a very unsafe road to travel on. The Forest Service people should want to have a safe road for people to drive on. But, come to find out, they don't want to fix it, because they don't want people using it, to go to the campgrounds etc. It would be great if they would fix the road.

The Rangers posted here have always been professional, courteous and helpful, and understaffed. My Only complaint is that the office is too often closed when I go by. But that's my Bad Timing, not theirs. They do have a life off the Rez!
