Sennin-so Shiatsu clinic is conveniently located in an older medical building, the Washington Medical Clinic, in the Central District, close to Jackson and Rainier.
I've just had my first appointment, which is the longer initial appointment, and now I am wondering how it was that Stan zeroed in immediately on the source of the pain, which led him precisely to the other, connected areas of pain (which other practitioners thought was the cause).
The explanation of doctors and physical therapists, with a more traditional, symptom-based approach, but also the many alternative practioners I consulted, gave as the cause of my pain was different from Stan's too. While I received significant relief from their treatments (acupuncture and osteopathy, and PT), the root pain (as Stan had identified it, was still there). After Stan's treatment, the pain is finally diminishing, along with the pain in other tight areas, which had not been identified in the past.
Stan explained why he didn't think that the other analyses (caused by uneven hips, caused by scoliosis) I had received made sense. After 25 years, a light bulb goes on; I have a new understanding of my body, a new awareness, and new approaches for my at-home care (Stan provides you with that).
He also pointed out another problem (my breathing), which has been off for so many years I'd just forgotten it. Interestingly, the post-treatment, detoxification pain (to be expected) centered on that area -- sinuses, nose. His analysis of the reason for my circulatory restrictions gave me the framework and explanation to understand some chronic issues, and to open up and relieve the pain. Bravo!
It's really quite exciting to have these new insights, and fantastic to have pain relief and an effective at-home plan. I wholeheartedly recommnend Stan. He's professional and very kind. He's a great communicator, and while his unique treatment seems almost magical, when he explains it, it makes perfect analytical sense.
