I was worried when leaving San Diego that the Seattle VA hospital would not have the same level of care. The San Diego hospital was so spectacular and the staff, administration, and even the ancillary healthcare systems, treated me with kindness, respect, and a level of care I didn't expect from the VA.
I can now say, with confidence, that the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, is just as great, if not better, than the San Diego hospital.
I was experiencing extraordinary levels of pain in my lower abdomen, called the VA (since we live on Whidbey Island) to see if there was anything they could do. I was concerned about Means Testing, my files being up-to-date, etc. The nurse that we spoke to basically said, \don't worry about any of that...just come in!\ That was the first sign that my experience with Seattle VA was going to be a positive.
From the valets to the workers at the front desk, even the nurses and workers in the parking garage, everyone was kind, helpful, and treated me like I was literally the only patient there. (Given that there's a pandemic going on, that was and is certainly not the case.)
I cannot say enough about how quickly, efficiently, and compassionately I was treated at this vast facility, which is remarkable since it is literally the only VA hospital in all of Western Washington. Maybe its the recent remodel, or just the VA, overall, reclaiming its reputation after years of bad press, but my experience at this facility was absolutely remarkable.
Hence, the review. I'm not suggesting anyone get sick, but, if you do, and you're a veteran in the Puget Sound region, you can feel assured that you will have an extraordinary level of care at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
