Ephesus is an ancient city built on the Ionian coasts, which is located within the borders of Izmir. The city was built by Ionian colonists in the 10th century BC. It is known as one of the 12 city states built in the region. The city became famous with the Roman Empire under the patronage. The city's reputation came with the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, near it. In addition to this, there is the Efes library, which is widely known in the region, and a theater with more than 25,000 viewers.
Highly recommend to have enough water and hat especially in summer time. almost no shade in the entire journey. when u enter the ruins of Ephesus you will pass this place.. it is good to see.. you should imagine how they use to use this place.. different fights use to take place.. different throne ceremonies use to take place in ancient roman and pegan times.. so imagining and seeing a historical place is always good. To access and sit on the steps of the theater you should be fit, its located on the slope of Panayir Hill, opposite Harbor Street, and you can clearly see it from the south entrance. From the top you have a great view of Ephesus. It was constructed in the Hellenistic Period, in the third century BC and enlarged during the Roman Period. It has a capacity of 25,000 seats. The theater was used for concerts and plays, religious, political and philosophical discussions and also for gladiators and animals fights
One of the most important ancient sites of Anatolia, Turkey. Attracts millions of tourists both from abroad and Turkey. The excavations also still continues. You need to dedicate at least half a day to this site in your trip. This is a must-see place in Turkey.
It's lovely and historical place that remained from Osmani age that greece came to turkey and owned this place for living. Over the efes city you can reach the meryam virgin house in the jungle but you need to have a car or renting the taxi because 5 kilometers between the efes city and meryam house
Great place if you are interested in antique history. Can be too hot during summer time try to come early in the morning or late afternoon. İt's not easy to go there with kids but if you make it more interesting for them they will enjoy it.
It's an amazing city, and I think the reconstructions using the originalstones found at the site, I really the best, I hope that they're able to complete more of them in the coming years, they really bring the history to life and show what a sophisticated Greek civilization existed in Asia minor 2000 years ago. The entrance is a little steep at 100 TL, but I can say that it's worth it, need to spend a minimum of two-and-a-half hours, and you can get local guides for between 20 and 35
Very impressive place. It will be interesting to visit again after the reconstruction of the big theater
