Semuja Detention Camp (Immigration) was initially a Sarawak Field Force camp. The Sarawak Field Force were feared and famous for their jungle war tactics. When peace returned to the country, the state government decided to dissolve them. That was when the unused facility was converted to a detention camp where foreigners without valid travel documents are held here waiting to be deported.
